HYPNOTIC Single–Step Creme Lowlights

Can HYPNOTIC shades be combined?

No, each color has a filler designed to support the desired shade. By mixing the shades you alter the filler and the results could be undesirable.

What is the mixing ratio?

HYPNOTIC mixes at a ratio of 1 part color to 1.5 parts developer (1:1.5 mixing ratio).

What volume of developer is used?

PURE OXI 10 Volume or Demi-Permanent Developer is recommended.

Why is there no level finder in the swatch book?

This system was designed to deposit color into light or gray hair. No level finder is necessary to work with the system.

Can this be used on-the-scalp?

Yes, this can be used on-the-scalp for tint back application and for gray coverage. For 100% gray coverage use PURE OXI 10 Volume Creme Developer.

HIGH DEFINITION Custom Mixing Gel Color

Why are there only 10 bottles of haircolor?

This is a custom mixing color system where the swatch book gives you formulas to create over 200 shades.

What is the difference from the formulas on the white pages vs. the gray pages in the swatch book?

The formulas on the white pages are for hair that is 50% or less gray and the gray pages are formulas for hair that is 50% or more gray.

What is the mixing ratio?

HIGH DEFINITION mixes at a ratio of 1 part color to 1 part developer (1:1 mixing ratio).

Why does the level finder appear much lighter than other color lines I have used?

HIGH DEFINITION is formulated on the American Milady level system, which is the industry standard for gel colors. Creme haircolor is formulated utilizing the European level system.

Is this a permanent haircolor system?

HIGH DEFINITION is a permanent haircolor system when mixed with PURE OXI Creme or Clear 10, 20, 30 and 40 Volume Developer. It is also very unique in that when mixed with Scruples PURE OXI Demi-Permanent Developer, 70% of the ammonia is neutralized and becomes a deposit-only demi-permanent color.

BLAZING HIGHLIGHTS Toner Infused Gel Color

Is this a bleach?

BLAZING HIGHLIGHTS X-tra Light Booster Concentrate is a persulfate booster. This highlighting system allows stylists to lift and deposit permanent haircolor in a single step.

How do I mix BLAZING HIGHLIGHTS?

You can view our on-demand video showing step-by-step formulation here

My highlight did not get light enough, what can I do?

When formulating BLAZING HIGHLIGHTS it is important to find the natural or color treated level by using the level finder. Keep in mind that the chart is for natural hair and that an additional scoop of X-tra Light Booster Concentrate must be added in addition to what is on the chart for color treated hair. If you have hard water, ad an additional scoop of X-tra Light Booster Concentrate. If you have color-treated hair and hard water, only add 1 additional scoop of X-tra Light Booster Concentrate.

The color at the new growth is lighter than the color treated end?

If the new growth area is lighter than the ends, mix two formulas to accommodate the different levels.  If the natural regrowth is darker than the ends, the same formula can be used. Always formulate to the darkest level.

If my client wants just a few foils or more foils, how can I adjust the size of my batch?

To make a half batch, simply reduce all components of the formula by half.  To make a double batch, double all components. For a test strand, follow the test strand formulation on the Blazing wall chart

Can shades be combined?

Yes, SHADOW LOWLIGHTS shades can be mixed to create various shades.

What is the mixing ratio?

SHADOW LOWLIGHTS mixes at a ratio of 1 part color to 1 part developer (1:1 mixing ratio).

Can this be applied on-the-scalp?

Yes, SHADOW LOWLIGHTS can be applied on-the-scalp for tint back and gray coverage application methods. When applying on-the-scalp, do not process with heat.

Is this a permanent haircolor?

MENZ 5 Minute Haircolor

What is the mixing ratio?

Process for 5–10 minutes on damp or dry hair, depending upon the amount of coverage you wish to achieve. See wall chart for complete coverage options.

URBAN SHOCK

Does this mix with developer?

No, URBAN SHOCK is a direct dye and requires no developer

How do I change from one URBAN SHOCK shade to another?

Mix equal parts BLAZING HIGHLIGHTS Oil Lightener and PURE OXI 10 Volume Clear Developer. Apply mixture to hair to remove existing color, shampoo and condition, and apply new URBAN SHOCK color as directed.

How do I remove URBAN SHOCK?

Apply POWER BLONDE Lightening Powder in a 1:1 mixing ratio with PURE OXI 20 Volume Creme Developer.

How do I cover an URBAN SHOCK shade?

Apply HIGH DEFINITION Gel Color, TRUE INTEGRITY Opalescent Creme Colour, HYPNOTIC Single–Step Creme Lowlights, or SHADOW LOWLIGHTS Filler Infused Gel Color directly over existing URBAN SHOCK shade.

How do I make URBAN SHOCK last longer?

URBAN SHOCK is a direct dye stain, not a permanent haircolor. When pre-lightening it is best to leave the hair a yellow or pale yellow, unless depositing a pastel shade. When  depositing a pastel shade hair should be toned first. Process with heat for 15-30 minutes with a 5 minute cool down, shampoo, condition and rinse with cool water until water runs clear.

The longevity of URBAN SHOCK can be extended by using Scruples sulfate-free shampoos and conditioners, rinsing in cold water, styling with Scruples CLASSIC COLLECTION primers and low-heat styling tools, avoiding chlorinated pools or salt water and protecting hair from exposure to sunlight.

Where is Urban Shock Available?

URBAN SHOCK Color Craze is only available in the USA, URBAN SHOCK Brights is available internationally.

How long is the product good for in the bowl?

There is no set time period, but keep in mind once this product dries out it stops working. If the top layer forms a crusts in the bowl, you can stir the product or add more developer to remoisten and continue use.

Yes, please refer to our Color Strobing How-To Video to learn how a stretched root can be applied with POWER BLONDE Balayage Clay Lightener.
